Your mental age
Even when she was sick, my mother always said that she didn’t feel much different than when she was 16.
It was weird for me to hear that from someone as old as my mother. I guess I thought there’d be some magic time when I grow up where I will feel my age. Guess not.
Linda at In the Middle at asks an interesting question: Do you have a mental age?
After I thought about it, despite people who will testify that I have an Inner 13 Year Old Boy, my age in my head is around 19.
I was young and free in college, but old enough to take care of myself, I was in love with a special person and things were grand. I love my life now, but I sometimes I don’t feel much different than that person.
Like Linda, I sometimes forget that other people age, too. I continue to to shocked when I see the parents of my peers and they look old. It alarms me that the grown-ups are aging, where will we get more?

The comments shared this early morning have kept coming to mind.
Especially since my energy level is flying this early morning. Headed for garden centers and new gardening project in mind.
My mental image is 40. I am free and finally becoming the real me. A youthful 40.
The past of a not ideal childhood, early marriage, 4th child at 33 and alone by 40.
two in college, one in highschool and just me and my little one. Free to begin to live the life I want to.
So my mind stays at 40 but my body is not agreeing lately. Yesterday thought I was ready for the
old folks home.
But like I shared this morning I am soaring.
Oh, I hope it does last.

About 27 for me as well (I was a screw up at 19).
Who is that old guy I keep seeing in my mirror?
