Mother’s Day is really a lot closer than I thought until I looked it up to write this.
Just in time for Mother’s Day, my friends at Hallmark (I really do have friends there. They rock.) have developed recordable greeting cards with music.
You push a button and record up to a 10 second message (it’s re-recordable, so do as many takes as you need), and when the mom opens it, she hears the personal message you or the kids recorded to introduce the song.
They retail for $5.99.
I happen to have a few to give away, but this will have to be a quick contest.

Reminded me of Seth when he was 7 or so. He used to “send” balloons “to the angels”…That’s when he was still sweet!

Hi Elizabeth. My favorite column of the recent ones was the one from your daughter’s confirmation day and you were realizing that your mom would not be there as you were dusting a framed photograph of her. It was so sad, and a reminder to me to make the most of the time I have left with my parents. I need to call/visit more often. And make sure my kids do the same.

E., Any number of the posts in your “Sandwich Dilemmas” category rank high with me. There is comfort in knowing that there are others who encounter the challenges of caring for children, aging parents, and sometimes adult-children…not that it is a ‘misery loves company’ thing, but more of an encouragement that others make it through tough days, and that many make it through those days and can find humor/joy/peace in the experiences.
