Two of my favorite blogs, Know-it-Alz, and, Minding our Elders each won a Top Alzheimer’s Site Award from Health Central.com.
Both Kathy and Carol are dedicated caregivers, and, you should be reading their blogs, if you aren’t already.
Congratulations to both of you!

There’s a great article in the Los Angeles Times, The unsung-and unseen caregivers, about the huge toll that caregiver can exact on people.
It discusses how, that while few people regret their care giving experiences, they often pay dearly in terms of physical and mental health. For example, a staggering 91% of caregivers responding […]

The U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission (EEOC) has issued a document document, Enforcement Guidance on Unlawful Disparate Treatment of Workers with Caregiving Responsibilities, to help determine how employment laws apply to workers who care for family members.

Bigtreemurphy.com, Alzheimer’s for caregivers has a well thought out list of 12 Things Not to Say to a Caregiver.

The beauty of it is that […]

There’s a touching story on msn.com this morning by Max Brooks, son of the legendary comedian, Mel Brooks. He tells the story of his induction into the Sandwich Generation after his mother, Mel’s wife of 44 years, died.
A few nights later, my father was giving my son a bedtime bottle. I sat watching. His cellphone […]

So.
Remember my uncle? My father’s 86 year old brother, the one who’s been in the ICU with pneumonia?
The one who’s still there, and, weak and stuff? The one who apparently has no money, and, is really depressed about what he’s going to do, and, who thinks he’s going to die soon?
Yeah, him.
That’s the same uncle […]
