Another friend joins the Sandwich Generation ranks - follow up

My friend’s dad died on Friday. Actually, when I was looking up the arrangements in the paper, I noted 3 other people I know who lost their fathers last week. Weird.

Anyway, today I became the, “Let me know if I can do anything person.” As much as that phrase bugs me, it just kind of slips out, sometimes, huh? I did redeem myself by offering specific help such as childcare or retrieving people from the airport.

This will be interesting because he was a friend of my mother’s, and, his funeral arrangements are nearly identical to hers. For some reason, I’m a little uneasy about it. Maybe it won’t be that big of a deal.
