A foot-long sandwich?

by Elizabeth on October 4th, 2006

Though it’s usually a cause for celebration when you have five generations of a family living, it is also possible for middle aged adults to have grandparents, parents, children, grand-children AND great-grandchildren, all who need care.

I wonder what you’d call that type of sandwich? More here.

Good Gravy, that is like the Burger King Stacker of Sandwich Generations. Of course in the scenario given, it becomes unclear of who is tending to who.

Are the 70 year old (”parents”) still expected to take care of the 90 year olds (”grandparents”)? Are they supposed to take care of their grandkids? And if so, then are their kids actually in a “sandwich generation” struggle if their parents are still helping them as opposed to them now being in line to receive help from their kids?

    Confused? Yeah. Me too.
