6 Ways to help a senior with Spring Cleaning
It’s Springtime, even if the latest temperatures are trying to tell us otherwise.
Spring also means it’s time to clean up the house a bit. We have a lot of things to do around our own houses, but, if you have parents who are getting older, some Spring Cleaning chores can be difficult.
However, sometimes, older parents or relatives don’t know what they need help with, or, are hesitant to ask for help doing things that are useful, but, not always critical. Offering to do specific chores might make it easier for older people to accept assistance.
Here are 6 things that often need doing, and, could be can be completed in a visit, that will help a senior get through their Spring Cleaning list:
1. Check and clean out gutters.
2. Prepare flower beds for planting.
3. Clean and arrange any outdoor furniture.
4. Clean out the pantry and refrigerator, and, offer to go shopping to re-stock.
5. Clean or replace air filters on heating and air conditioning units.
6. Check, and, replace light bulbs as needed, don’t forget the outside lights.
Even though there’s often lots more to do, offering to do specific tasks like these may be all it takes to get someone to open up and let you help.
