So, my dad is going back to work today.
Seventy-four years old, less than 3 weeks out from a lumbar laminectomy and returning to work teaching high school. I’d say that’s pretty good.
The dog? Dunno. No worse, I suppose, but, when you’re 119 years old, it’s hard to tell.

This morning, for no particular reason, I was wishing I could have just a 5 minute break from worrying about all things aging, when our 17 year old dog started looking not so good.
Ugh, not sure what’s going on with her, but, we’ll see.
Then, I realized that when the time comes that I don’t have […]

While the sentiment is good, I don’t think the Home Helpers company is helping itself with this press release:
Cranford, NJ, October 27, 2006 –(PR.COM)– Home Helpers offers services to make life easier. Imagine the peace of mind a “sandwich generation” woman would have if she knew her elderly parents had a caring and reliable companion […]

Sometimes I get stuck about what to write here. I enjoy doing it, and, I have lots to say, but, I am very aware that the topic of being in the Sandwich Generation can easily turn (and probably has more than once, here) turned into Introspective Angst-a-Palooza.
I can’t stand that kind of stuff.
Being in my […]

Sure, I know that it’s important to plan and we are able to throw a little money at the issue, but, I don’t really think about it in concrete terms, […]

So. I was perusing Perez Hilton, um, not that I do that often or get my news from there or anything…
What? OK, OK, you got me. I know everything that’s going on over there at any given time, I confess.
Anyway, back to my story.
I cruised by there just now and I was greeted with the […]

My dad had his surgery on the 11th, and, he is finally on the mend.
I have to say, it has been rough. The surgery itself was completed without a problem. He was out of the hospital the next afternoon, and, even though I’m a nurse, I somehow didn’t think this thing all the way through […]

Either I’m getting older than I think or I just write about aging a lot, but, the AARP has found me here.

Oh. My. Dog. I just thought deeply about that for a minute and realized I am but 8 years away from a membership card.
[RESUME professional demeanor]
Anyway, I got a press release from them […]
